June 15, 2008 - On a hot and humid June afternoon, the Falcons took to the pristine astro turf of Marlboro for their final contest of the season. The Falcons came out playing hard. Only 5 minutes into the first half, Ava took a pass from Maggie and knocked the ball into the goal for the Falcon’s go ahead goal. Jenny was great in goal, stopping everything that Marlboro kicked at her. Michele played tough the whole first half, aggressively keeping the ball off the Falcon’s side of the field. Fifteen minutes into the first half, Maggie knocked a shot deep into the back of Marlboro’s goal. With storm clouds gathering, the half ended with the Falcons having a 2-0 lead.
At the end of the halftime break, Marlboro’s lightning detection alarm went off, signaling the competitors to clear the field. After a half hour delay, and with darker clouds on the horizon, the officials called off the rest of the game. Since a full half of soccer had been played, the Falcons get the win to end their season very strong. Coach Tom had just enough time to announce that a pool party will be held soon at the Sardoni’s home to celebrate their excellent season.
