The Flying Falcons continued their winning ways this Sunday, beating the Battle of Monmouth Blaze in a great game in Wall Township. Following the previous week’s 85 degree temperatures, this week saw the Falcons playing soccer in 53 degree weather, with a strong wind blowing making the conditions even worse. The weather didn’t stop the Falcons who started off the game strong, keeping the action on the Blaze’s side of the field for most of the first half. Seven minutes into the game Grace took the ball from midfield and dribbled past multiple players to drill the ball left-footed into the goal for the 1-0 lead.
Five minutes later, Grace was again on the ball hitting a great cross from the left side that Ava took and kicked in, past a defender for the 2-0 lead. Julia and Sophie played hard all first half. Rebecca and Amanda both played hard with sore knees. The half ended with the score Falcons 2, Blaze 0.
Twelve minutes into the second half Julia hit a great pass to Paige. Paige hit a towering ball that hit the crossbar of the goal and bounced down and in for the 3-0 lead. Emma played hard all game, up and down the field. Jenny, who came out of the goal to play right wing, had four shots on goal. The Falcons had a great game, with great defense and great offense. The game ended with the Falcons victorious and the score 3-0.
