Falcons Cap Spectacular Season With Convincing Win Over Point Pleasant
great job by everyone as Falcons finish strong
On a cold and blustery November morning, the Flying Falcons of Wall took to the frozen tundra for a showdown with the Tsunami of Point Pleasant. With Alex still on the sidelines, but cheering her team on, the Falcons started the day in hopes of a win to secure second place in their division. With all the other division games played the previous week, the Falcons knew that their destiny was in their own hands.

The Falcons came out strong fighting back several early Tsunami pushes. But only six minutes into the game, the Tsunami struck first, for a quick 1-0 lead. Twelve minutes later Rebecca plowed the ball from right to left across the front of Point Pleasant’s goal for the 1-1 tie. Grace did a great job all over the field. Emma kept busy, constantly pounding the ball up to Rebecca. With many team members having been sick earlier in the week, fatigue started to set in towards the end of the first half. Jenny did a great job in goal stopping many excellently hit Point Pleasant attempts. Shannon played hard, even getting knocked down in the first half. The half came to a close with the scored tied 1-1.

After oranges and an inspiring half time talk from Coach Tom, the Falcons were ready to play. Only two minutes into the second half, Rebecca took a ball from 30 yards out and dribbled all the way into the goal for the 2-1 lead. Sophie played great up and down the field, stopping Tsunami advances and pounding the ball deep into the other side of the field. Maggie was everywhere, confusing the opposition with speed and ball handling skills.

Five minutes after their second goal, Shelly hit a towering pass that Rebecca dribbled in for the 3-1 lead. Marissa did a great job all morning, constantly feeding the ball up to the front line. Only two minutes after the Falcon’s took the 3-1 lead, Shelly hit a great shot for the 4-1 go ahead. Ava spent the day confusing the Tsunami front line deep into their own corner. Ava controlled the ball and kept the Tsunami off balance. Grace continued playing hard all over the back field.

Michele spent the majority of the second half passing balls deep in Tsunami territory and taking great shots on goal. At the 62 minute mark, Julia, who was having a great morning, kicked a great shot from 30 yards out. Although the Tsunami goalie blocked the shot, Amanda took the rebound and pounded it into the goal for the 5-1 lead.  Megan played hard in the second half keeping the Point Pleasant defenders on their toes. Two minutes after their last goal, Emma kicked a great corner kick that Grace took into the goal for the 6-1 lead.

The Flying Falcons ended their spectacular season with a record of 8-1-1, with 23 goals scored and only 6 goals scored against. (Go Jenny!)
