Flying Falcons off to Spectacular 4-0 Start
Wall Holds on to Beat Toms River Banshees
September 28, 2008- Toms River, NJ
On a cloudy, overcast day, the Flying Falcons took the field for a great match-up against the Banshees of Toms River. Both sides played hard the whole first half. Jenny did a great job stopping the Banshee’s attempts to score. Grace repeatedly cleared the ball from in front of the Falcon’s goal. With great work up front from Marissa and Shelly, and help from Michelle at mid field, the Falcons had more first half shots on goal than the Banshees. Despite these great efforts, the half ended 0-0.
After an energizing talk from Coach Tom, the Falcons took the field, ready to play trap and pass soccer. The Falcons dominated the second half. Julia continually kept the ball from the opposing team. After 61 minutes of scoreless soccer, Maggie took a pass from Rebecca and drilled the ball into the center of the Banshee’s goal. The Falcons continued to dominate for the rest of the game with particularly strong performances from Sophie and Alex. The game ended with a 1-0 Falcons victory, their fourth straight of the season.
